10 Love Songs Dedicated to my Son

Dear Baby Boy,

Like most little girls, I grew up listening to love songs, daydreaming about my crushes and the family I would one day have… dreaming about you honestly… And never in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine to have been gifted something so pure… so sweet… so perfect. And that is exactly what you are.

So, as your mother (and since I have already made a mixtape of love songs for your sissy 10 Love Songs I Dedicate to my Daughter), I thought it only fitting that you have your very own list. After all, you are the boy I’ve dreamed of my whole life.

While I do dedicate the obvious songs such as “There Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “You are My Sunshine” to you, I thought I’d get a little more personal here.

  1. I Cross My Heart by George Strait

I had to start off with the one I’ve been singing to you before I ever met you. I need you to know that my “love is unconditional” and I “knew it from the start.” The very start. As soon as I held you, I knew this was meant to be my song to you. Oftentimes, I still sing it to you, and I do mean every word. “I cross my heart and promise to give all I’ve got to give to make all your dreams come true. In all the world, you’ll never find a love as true as mine.” This is our song of all songs, baby boy.

  1. I Do It For You by Bryan Adams

Seriously, I do not make a move without thinking of you. So “everything I do, I do it for you” and “I would give it all, I would sacrifice” are so true, sunshine. My life really does revolve around you.

  1. I Could Not Ask for More by Edwin McCain

You and your sister give my life meaning. “Smiling just to see the smile upon your face, these are the moments I thank God that I’m alive, these are the moments I’ll remember all my life…Everything you are is everything to me. These are the moments I know heaven must exist.” Thank you for giving me a purpose. I could not ask for more than my time with you. You’re all I’ve waited for… and I could not as for more.

  1. You had Me from Hello by Kenny Chesney

“Your smile captured me. You were in my future as far as I could see.” The moment I looked into your eyes and took your hand in mine, I became yours. “It was over from the start; you completely stole my heart.” Ask me if I love you, I always will. You had me from hello, baby boy, and you always will.

  1. Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley

This is one of those songs daddy used to play for me, but it relates to the very first day I ever met you… When you “[took] my hand, [you took] my whole life too, For I can’t help falling in love with you.” I knew right away my love for you was undeniable. I must be fool, because I rushed in and couldn’t help falling in love with you.

While we’re on Elvis, I couldn’t resist sneaking this one to my mixtape for you. Because “You have made my life complete and I love you so…All my dreams fulfilled for my darling I love you and I always will” I’ll never let you go

  1. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

Darling, I will be loving you til [you’re] 70… I fell in love with “maybe just a touch of a hand.” And it was; it was the very first touch of your hand; that’s all it took. Every time you “place your head on my beating heart” I fall even deeper… And “when my hair’s all but gone and my memory fades” just “know [I] will still love [you] the same,” because “your smile’s forever in my mind and memory.” I thank you for letting me find love right where we are. My love for you will never fade, even when I do…

  1. Forever and Ever, Amen by Randy Travis

I used to have this song on a cassette tape when I was a little girl, but it holds true for my love for you… “This love that I feel for you always will be…As sure as I live, this love that I give is gonna be yours until the day that I die” and then the entire chorus… Your Daddy has played this song for me, and I’m now dedicating it to you. Because I promise you… I’m gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever, amen.

  1. Shameless by Garth Brooks

Honestly, son, I’m so very, seriously “shameless when it comes to loving you”… “I’ll do anything you want me to; I’ll do anything at all.” “I didn’t know I could fall this deep in love again, but it was “out of my hands” and you have all of me now. I am truly wrapped around each of your precious little fingers…  I’m shameless (just wanted you to know).

  1. From This Moment On by Shania Twain

I couldn’t make my list complete without something from my girl, Shania. Every word in this entire song has been true from the moment I met you.

“From this moment, as long as I live, I will love you. I promise you this.” You are my dream come true, the answer to my prayers, and I’ll love you from this moment (Dec. 2, 1:47 p.m.) on…

  1. The Keeper of the Stars by Tracy Byrd

I had to end with another of my favorites, because God knew what I needed way before I ever did: I needed you. You filled a piece of my heart that I didn’t even know was missing. You complete me and our family, and I thank God for you every, single day.

“It was no accident me finding you. Someone had a hand in it long before we ever knew. And I just can’t believe you’re in my life… I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars. He sure knew what He was doin’ when he joined these two hearts…I hold everything, when I hold you in my arms. I’ve got all I’ll ever need thanks to the keeper of the stars.”

<<Thank you Lord, for filling my heart and making my life complete… There really are no words to show my gratitude for this life, this love I have been granted. To You, I gratefully tip my hat.>>

Happy 1.5 years of sweet, sweet life, baby boy. “I love you with every beat of my heart… I swear” and “I’m head over boots for you…” always.

XOXO,

Mommy

He Won’t Remember…

He won’t remember how easy he made his pregnancy and birth for me. Hardly five pushes and we were on the same team from the very start.

He won’t remember the way my heart stopped when I didn’t hear his cries fill the room, cries that I had been anticipating from my newborn baby. How he was my constant source of calm. Continue reading

Year One Milestones

My tiny, baby newborn has officially been among us muggles for an entire year (and two days) now.  (A year that flew by like the speed of light, if you ask me… Seriously, the shortest year. of. my. life.) During this year, baby brother has developed and changed so much (but he is still and always will be my tiny, baby newborn).

My baby boy is growing entirely too quickly… He is doing new things daily, and time seriously needs to slow down.
